Great picture....
Unique looking for SD40-2's: winterization hatch, odd horn placement, and no dynamic brakes

All of these were standards on the Soo's SD40-2s I think. I have also seen the same horn placement on other Soo locos
Nice picture NScalemike. Bet that engine picked up quite a layer of soot soon after that!

A post 1980 SD40-2 no less... note the exhaust silencer, Q-fans and the inertial intake grill...
I should note... this is the as-built appearance. SOO had extended-range dynamic brakes added (a unique blister for post-1980 models)...

Besides the Milwaukee wasn't Soo the only other railroad to order 16' (ok 15' 3/4") fuel tanks on their SD40-2's? I have seen photos though of both the full size and smaller tanks. I wonder if it varied batch by batch

Algoma Central and Companie de Bauxite du Guinea (Boke Project) also have SD40-2s with 3200g tanks (Boke also bought a rebuilt former MILW SD40-2 as well)
Kennecott Copper ordered SD40-2 with 3200g tanks, though these may be 3000g tanks (they are offset differently). These units went to BC Rail and are now part of HLCXs lease fleet.
