I took this shot Aug of 1982, near Lancaster , CA. I barely know the differences between GE's and EMD's at times graemlins/222.gif ...what type of boxcar is it? Approximate age? I can tell it probably is very old...not only because of it's markings .."IC" but also it's trucks look very pre-70's.

The paint scheme definately predates the 1970's, I think it was 1968 or thereabouts they changed to the orange with 'split rail' logo, and orange & white on diesels.

The car also has a high brake wheel and would have had a tall ladder on the right hand end there plus a roofwalk (you can see the supports for the roofwalk still there)

My *guess* would be an early 60's built car, anyone got a suitable ORER or something they could check with?

Well, redface.gif I'm embarrassed to say that I worked in building and repairing railcars. But cannot remember when the "Cushion Underframe" era began. That fact might also help date the car.

IC came out with the split rail logo in 1966. That car must be somewhat old.
