In the GN books I have and post cards I've collected, you never knew what was going to be on the headend! Mostly F's, but I saw one pic of the last run with a geep w/silver trucks, like the F-units on the builder! Oh, and thanks Hemiadda2d for the pic, but a little before my time period.

Boxcab E50 </font>[/QUOTE]That pic was taken on the Seattle waterfront just north of downtown. There is a huge grain elevator there now along with 8-9 tracks and the water on the left has been pushed out about 50-75 yards with fill and there is the waterfront park here now. graemlins/wink.gif

That's where I thought it was taken. Looked like Magnolia in the background. Thus is just about where Myrtle Edwards Park is now.

Anyone own the GN Pictorial series? Surely, one must have some pics or data on the #5...

I have that series, The Cascadians were the day locals between Seattle and Spokane. They handled all the little towns that the Builder ands Western Star Skipped.

Well I searched all seven Great Northern Pictorial volumes and only Volume 4 has pictures of the Cascadian .. both eras (heavyweight and smoothside)... and very few at that.
Thanks Kurt ... But I Wonder?!? .. How much all seven volumes as a single collection would be worth? :omg:
No matter .. I'm not selling in any case. :teeth:
