Scott, you are lucky you got a shot before they built this abominable shelter. The stack doesn't even fit in it, had to be altered. This was taken in 2003, also, in October. :(

I've always wondered about mounting the air pumps like that. It must have been a maintenance nightmare? Any needed work in the smoke box, must have required disconnecting a batch of plumbing?

Yeah, I have always wondered about that. In the UK all our smokeboxes were 'clean' as they needed to be opened frequently for ash clearance, before newer locos had self cleaning smokebox equipment.

A lot of them had a small door that would open below the air pumps for clean out. For major jobs they had to be removed.

I am getting a real liking for smaller engines. That one looks pretty fine to me, and just look at the mix of freightcars on that local. Wonderful smile.gif

Similar power to what I've seen in photos, for my area. Those old teakettles would be great to see running again.

I prefer the type of cars that are tagging along, to the stuff seen today.

Still there. F-8 #1147.

Supposedly there was a time capsule planted in the sand dome many years ago. When they popped it open about 2 years ago--nuthin.
They have got it set up so the headlight comes on at night. I need to stop by and take a close-up look at it. Been meaning to for 30 years now.

I've not been there in a long time. We used to visit the area a lot in the 1960's. My parents had friends there. Was back a couple of times during the 1980's. Don't know anyone up there now. Just never had much reason to swing up that way again.

Keep thinking I have a poor photo of the engine, taken when a youth. But so far, cannot find any trace of it.

How about the old Cashmere GN depot? Still used by m-o-w?

Cashmere depot is used by MOW, as are all remaining depots that I know of, except Leavenworth, which got moved downtown.

Not in GN. A few others have some Diesel stuff. WP has a few shots.
