it'smat a museum in Danmark.....it looks to be built buy a foreign company with an EMD licence, since it looks a wee bit like a North American F unit.

These locomotives were built in quite large numbers in Europe by Nohab. Belgium had several and I have ridden the cab of one, and they are very noisy!
They are basically a double ended F unit, built under licence. Some are still hanging on in service, which is not bad for a 1950's machine!

It was done for a movie I believe, that was filmed in Denmark but supposedly set in the Pacific North West! There was a hood unit that sorta looked like a psuedo NW5 done as well if I recall...

More info, taken from: http://www.railorama.dk/news/oldnews.htm
Ex. DSB MY 1108 repainted for movie job: During may 1999 TÅGAB TMY was repainted for use in a movie by Lars von Trier "Dancer in the Dark" (featuring among others Björk & Catherine Deneuve), which is to be shot north of Kil in the end of may. Together with T43 253 it was repainted in green, beige and orange "Great Northern" livery, looking like a pair of american locomotives in the 1950’ies. TMY 106 is the former DSB 90 86 00-21 108-4, ex. DSB MY 1108, bought by TÅGAB in april, departed from Copenhagen 28. april - arriving in Kristinehamn 30. april 1999. Both locos are later expected to go into traffic in the new colours, however possibly with inscription on the sides replaced by "Tågåkeriet i Bergslagen" (?). Also TMX 104 (ex. DSB MX 1021) features a special painting, the "Grafitti"-livery applied by DSB in 1989. Currently being overhauled it is expected to keep this livery.

A movie. OK. That makes some sense. I'll have to search those links. See if there is a photo of that psuedo NW5.

Well it's sorta an NW5...on a very dark night, if you squint real hard, wearing sunglasses.... graemlins/wink.gif graemlins/222.gif

My eyes hurt looking at the "NW5."

Kind of like the SP steam engines that were dressed up to look like European steamers for a couple of movies in the late 40's.

I sure miss seeing engines in these colors. Last time I saw an NW5, was up in New Westminister, BC. A couple of them. But dressed in post-1970 colors.
Amazing to see another chip car that has yet to endure a criminal act....

What, painting in BN green?
;) graemlins/LOL.gif
No, we get several of these a week thru Cheyenne. Amazing, these things are 35 years old, still wearing their original paint. How many freight cars have you seen unmolested, and still wearing their original paint?

Quite a few of those, on a regular basis. I did recently see an NP woodchip car restenciled BN or BNSF (can't remember for sure).

Those are rare in these parts. I have yet to see a patched chip gon...
Now, if I saw an SP&S gon, I wouldn't stop shooting pics of it!

An SP&S chip car? That would be great! I recently spoke with a retired GN/BN man. He had vague memories that they were all repainted. But couldn't state it as absolute. Maybe Dan would know for certain?

I didn't think any existed in their original SP&S paint anymore...

The SP&S ones are gone or repainted. Don't have a date in front of me for the last one repainted, but it has been a while. The last actual SP&S car of any type I saw was about 1987 in Pasco yard. Was a boxcar in the scrap track.

The last SP&S car I ever saw, was Fall of 1985. Actually, there were several. Why they were here, I don't know. All empties, in the siding at LaSalle, MT. Traffic was so heavy, that I was unable to get anywhere close for a photo. :( So had to move on.
