Just wondering if this sounds familiar- Since Darren is talking about Otto Perry, (in the D&H Forum), there is a D&RGW narrow gauge picture, or maybe it's two(?) that I have in the back of my mind. I wonder if these would be available via DPL?
Am thinking of a scene, where the train is crossing a bridge in the Black Canyon. Cannot recall if the Curecanti Needle is also in view? Or another picture in that general vicinity? Anyone recognize the description? If so, are these Perry views?

There is a train mounted on a bridge in the Black Canyon even to this day. But you can't see the Needles from there. Right by the Cimarron NPS service center.

You ought to see the DPL's Western photo colection. Most of the vintage Otto Perry shots I have posted here on TB are all from DPL. Extensive, and not all Grande or Colorado RR's. Lots of UP steam, CRI&P, CMStP&P, CNW, GN, and more!

I've tried for years to avoid the lure of Colorado narrow gauge RRing. But am weakening. Subscribed to Colorado Narrow Gauge Quarterly. Now thinking I should get a copy of that Otto Perry book.... Argh!

Me too... The Colorado Timetable mag (to which I cannot find a single link) is also some good info on CO's railroads in general. Lots of current day news, as well as older stuff.

This is how the Curecanti Needle looks today as there is a dam there now.

From this angle you can see the dam that is just up the road a bit from the bridge.

Still recognize the setting. But that lake water makes the Needle seem somewhat shorter.

Neat! Never heard of that area, nor that landmark...
278 is a C-16 class engine. Neat info here:

Have full engineering drawings for this loco in 7 1/4 scale but need some erector drawings if anyone can help?
Also have cyclinders, wheels & bell castings for this loco, plus stock for axels, driver rods & boiler, just trying to find the time to start it.
Beautiful pic's of 278 there Darren,I think it's a shame to have this loco's sitting idle.Should have at least one rebuilt to run.
Good links Jere.

Looks like time is slowly showing it's work on the loco.
