If the D&RGW were still an independant road, what would they be usind as road power?
I think that it would be EMD products: i.e. the SD90MACs, and SD70s.
What are your thoughts?

SD9043AC's would have looked good in the Rio Granda black and orange stripes. Nice model work.

During my brief stay in Grand Junction, I saw a lot of AC4400Ws in SP (and later UP) paint on the point of the North Fork coal trains. Methinks that several of these beasts would look good as well in black & orange.

I did one of the Athearn C44-9Ws in D&RGW paint. If I were in Utah, I would post a photo of it. It was a fun project.

I dunno about the GE power--D&RGW never bought a single GE road unit. I'd say since it was such an EMD customer, SD60's, and definitely SD70MACs would be their mainstay power now. I don't think they'd have SD60M's, but it's possible. An SD70ACe in real Grande paint (not the UP-rendition of it, which is OK) would be sharp. Make it with small Flying Grande heralds on the long hood, a-la-SD45....
