What is the size of the Grande's SD50 fuel tanks? Looking at the Athearn model and a prototype photo, the prottype appears smaller than the models.
Thanks for any help.

The SD50's had two sizes. 4000 and 4500. I think the Rio Grande had the smaller tank.

Jim:
How much of the new plastic fuel tank would you remove to make it the 4000 gal tank?
I know the SD40T-2s yoo remove 3/8 of an inch for the correct tank length.

Note that the DRGW 5505 trucks look like they are painted grey. Is this correct? I thought they would be painted black. Nice pictures.

Thats called dirt. They are black when new. Some of the T-2's have rust colored trucks, AKA no paint left.
