Well now that we got the EL back on the board I will start things rolling with the question, What is your favorite EL loco? My vote goes to the SD 45. No the RS 3. But the GP 7 is great also. Heck I love them all!!

My earliest memories of railroading in my hometown was of the EL Geeps working down at the railroad yards. It seems that these were GP9's with that distinctive sound they made. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Dale:

I like all the Alco products, especially the Erie FA's. Also like the old Lacawanna Trainmasters. As for EL only units (not old Eire or Lacawanna units), I have to go the the blue DOT U-33's.

I guess my fav would have to be the U34CH...only EL loco I ever rode behind (although by then it was well into the NJT era).

I used 2C them roll behind my house nightly.

U25b; introduced at Erie by GE, shortly after the merger, able to work the road or take industrial jobs, switch.

The E-L and second generation diesels began together. U boats moved into the 30s and EL lost the hyphen, but it's as if the merged Erie and Lakawanna roads and GE's innovative motive power were meant to start rolling at the same time.

I'll admit, the later EMD units on EL were closer to the superpower spirit on the former Road of Anthracite, but I think the later units have to look back to their beginnings.

My vote is split between the SDP45 and SD45.

I would have to say Alco C425's and C424's. I remember watching them go through Corry Pennsylvania. tongue.gif
