I have a model railroading paint scheme question and perhaps you could steer
me in the right direction.
I am looking for model paint scheme info regarding Rock Island Line E-units
done
in the Maroon/Crimson/Stainless Steel "rocket" scheme that first appeared on
TA units in 1937.
I am custom painting an Overland model.
I've seen MTH's RI E model, but the colors seem off compared to prototype
photos.
Has anyone custom painted the "rocket" scheme before, and if so could you
direct me to the paint manufacturer's and colors that you used. Polly Scale
does make a RI maroon, but the crimson color of the scheme is a tough one to
match. It looks different in each of the prototype photos that I've seen,
but it definitely doesnt look like a straight "red" to me.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
