rock island in the 1920's

I am doing research on a child you would have taken the Rock Island from Colroado Springs, CO to Rochester MN in 1920's. Where can I find informtion about what traveling on a train would have been like for him in those days.

My sister and I took the RI and SP from McAlester, OK to Los angeles in 1948, on a pass, so we were in a chair car all the way. I was 13. I remember the trip, thats as close as I get to your request for info. If you want to contact me, you have my email address. I think the power was still steam.
