Looking to find some pictures of the black & red color scheme used back in the 50's. Also looking for any information on G scale engines in that color scheme and if they can be purchased.

Can't help with the G scale part of your question, but this website:

http://www.rockisl.com/

and go to "paintschemes" then "red & black" it comes up with a handful of pics for you.

Hope that helps, and welcome to trainboard! graemlins/097.gif

Hello. Just saw your post on The ROCK's red/black color scheme. I do model the ROCK in G scale and there are some good G scale models for this. The best I think for accuracy is the USA TRAINS GP7 in the red/white/black scheme. The engine is detailed nicely and is a good runner. I also had the Aristocraft alco fa and fb units running in tandem. I sold them recently and have decided to do my own paint schemes. The Aristo units are ok but I was getting close to repowering with the new motorblocks and decided to just go with new USA units and apply my own schemes. I have painted a USA gp9 in THE ROCK scheme and installed a sierra sound system. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. You could always get the USA red/black geeps and change the number boards and numbers I suppose. The USA gp7, ARISTO fa and fb are the only 3 I know of in that scheme.
