Last night I spotted an ad for the July issue of Mainline Modeler. This coming issue features an article on Milw GP35's. The cover photo, down by the waterfront in Bellingham, Washington, appears to be a view taken by my friend Al Currier.

There is one place in town that rarely has an issue. I will check there. Otherwise, I'm going to need to chase down a copy via the railfriend grapevine!

I went by the hobby shop today and picked up the July issue of MLM. Very nice article about the Milwaukee GP35's. Six pages of pictures and captions and details. So I had to pick it up, and glad I did.

Cool! I can't wait to get mine. The GP35's are a favorite. Saw them a lot in branch line use during the final year or so.

My issue came yesterday. I've stood on the very spot that cover view was taken from, and watched Milw action. I see old friends inside. 1502, 1505. 1502 was a regular on the Snoqualmie trains. 1505 along with 1504 pulled the last number 947/946. Great memories!

i don't have access to that magazine so don't know where the photos were taken from but i am possitive I have been there as i have spent most of my life up to 17 years in Bellingham and have hiked the whole rail line around the Bellingham Bay. Boxcar. I have also walked the tressel across Lake Whatcome. I figured if a train suddenly came I could just go swimming. until it went by. graemlins/wow.gif

The rest of the photos are black and white. With the exception of two views at the Shops in Tacoma, all the others are from within Bellingham city limits.
I just noticed something I'd never seen before! The second unit on page 60 shows the dynamic brakes are deactivated. The fan is gone. Guess I need to look more closely at some other photos!
