Railroads used to do this, in honor of high ranking officials that had just passed away. And also top elected national politicians- Vice President, President.

On March 7, 1967, this order was issued in the memory of CB&Q President Harry C. Murphy. Who had just gone on to his final reward.

Cool! Railroads now don't have that kind of class do they?
