what era?

Hey gang;I was wondering what era everyone is modeling? any one in the Chessie era in the 70s? how about the 60s B&O/C&O era? what part of the system?

The era of my model railroad is circa 1950, but I do not model the C&O or any other real railroad.

However, my HO model railroad does leave a certain "C&O impression" because my railroad structures are mostly inspired by C&O (some are exact models). This includes the liberal use of C&O's light, medium, dark gray color scheme for buildings. The non-railroad buildings are the types that would have (and in most cases, still do) exist along the old C&O (now CSX) in Central Virginia. The scenery has a sort of Blue Ridge Mountains look. And of course, my railroad hauls a lot of coal.

But my locomotives and passenger equipment pretty much destroy the C&O impression because my motive power is whatever strikes my fancy. I did not want to be restricted to the roster of a particular railroad, but it would offend my sensibilities to have non-prototypical locomotives tricked out as bogus C&O so I simply invented a railroad and declared that it just happened to have structures that look remarkably like those found on the C&O (perhaps they sneaked into the C&O engineering offices one dark night and stole the plans). The similarity of structures to C&O does not offend me because a number of Northeastern U.S. railroads really did have structures very similar to C&O's (or perhaps it was that C&O had structures like theirs?)
