Ed,
BN only did one in tigerstripes, BN 8002:
Full nose:

Partial nose:

I think I took one for the team here, since I chopped a pair of Kato snoots, kitbashed mid-production 'Deuces out of them....

Along with 6772, the nose brakewheel, late radiator grills, 'Q' fans, in whiteface:

There are several others, and I cannot find my notes from my research.
July-Aug/Sept-Oct/Nov-Dec issues of Diesel Era will cover what units had what production features, and a glance at the Friends of the BN (http://www.fobnr.org/motivepower/whiteface.htm) website will tell you which engines wore whiteface paint.

Update:
I found my notes, there may be more, depending on what numbers you may want.
I figured this would give me plenty of variety.
As for just whitefaces, 6726, 34, 36,72, and 7812. There are many more out there than just those, but in my short research, those are the ones with brakewheel nose brakes, and whitefaces, like the Kato prototype.

I don't like the tiger stripes, but the white face looks ok on hood units, but a bit strange on wide cab units, IMO.

I'm with Alan, those tiger stripes had to be their worst paint scheme ever, no wonder they only had one!! graemlins/220.gif

Well, They also Had a GP50 or two in that scheme if I recall.

Thanks guys!
There are more than a few Geep 50's in Tigerstripes (http://www.fobnr.org/motivepower/tigerstripe.htm)....

The SD60M's in whiteface paint looked odd, but the 3-window units especially had a charm all their own...

The 3 window units never looked TOO bad. It was the 2-window with the tapered nose that looked dumb. I saw one up in portland a couple weeks ago. Ugly ugly paintscheme.

here is my white face 7812 unit. it is crossing, soon be completed, the renslow trestle. which is modeled in scale to the actual one here in eastern washington. http://atw_music.tripod.com/sitebuildercontent/Trainset/copy.JPG

! graemlins/220.gif ok just for you! follow the link here and you'll see some milw units pulling across the renslow trestle. however, i need to get a pic of some more milw sd40-2 power on that trestle. I am in the process of renumbering 3 of them. I just need to get one more milw sd40-2, but then again when it comes to trains, there may never be enough.

Very nice trestle.

There are still rumors of the BNSF using this line to bypass Pasco, so seeing a whiteface unit is a possibility, someday. :(

dan,
i have also heard of this rumor. for me it is good/bad news if it were to come true. good thing is i would get to see trains running through the landscape of that area, which i can only assume is fantastic. Something about this area fascinates me! the down side is it wouldn't be Milwaukee units.

I'm both a BN and Milw fan so it kind of would work for me. haha

The only problem with that is in Ellensburg, were the mainline used to go thru the college, now has buildings sitting where it used to be. And where would it tie in at around the lake area in eastern WA.? The owner of the land woudl'nt give it back to the railroad for anything this side of millions of $$!! I guess it could hook back up with the ex-NP at Lind, and go around the campus at Ellensburg somehow, but that's more $$$

so kato has released what road #'s they are planning. also what are anti-climbers? and if they are going to come with illuminated preprinted numberboards, does this mean buying a few extra to try and re-number will be difficult?

Well I guess I have to add my 2 cents worth. I hated the BN for taking over my favorite road, SLSF, until the first time I saw a tiger stripe unit. It was love at first sight and I have been a BN modeler ever since. I never have understood why they didn't do more in that scheme. And I have never cared for the white face, though it is a lot better than Borg yellow or BARF (oops I mean BNSF) orange. I guess it is the old story of different strokes for different folks.

Micro-Scale makes the decals in Nscale for the tiger stripe.

When was the white face paint scheme initiated on BN on any engine, not just the SD40-2? When did it end? Are there any white face units to be seen anymore or are they all painted? Thanks.

Yes, they used it (in both the pinstripe and non-pinstripe versions) on all non-AC power up to the merger. Many units remain in the scheme; I don't know if any are unpatched.

This link shows what you need to know:
http://www.fobnr.org/motivepower/whiteface.htm

Loads of ex-BN whitefaces are still around--rent-a-wreck leasers, and BNSF patch jobs as well.

There was about 50 or so GP50's painted with the Tiger Stripe nose and "Tyco" lettering. Some of the striped GP50's kept the "Tyco" lettering but had the whiteface applied to the low hood and cab. Here is a photo of two GP50 paint schemes.
just my 2 cents worth
