I'd swear that it was 35 years ago today, the BN merger was consumated. Interesting that it is now also a Fallen Flag!

Out of all the post 70's merger railroads, BN allways had the best looking paint.

I like to go back even more to when it was just the Burlington. smile.gif Well, in these parts it was the BRI or Burlington Rock Island joint line but most trains I remember seeing had Burlington power.

What I wouldn't give to see an all-green lashup again.

I linke the SD60M's with the green and white cabs... in fact, I caught one on a NS train recently.
I think I have a picture in my Railimages album.

Just yesterday a westbound had 7 SD40-2s on it. 6 were greenie weenies. I just closed my eyes and imagined what once was.

Were it not for the very rare unmarred BN SD40-2s still in original lettering (see 'em on rock trains now & then), I'd forget what BN actually looked like.

The thunder of 9,000 stampeding horses wasn't bad, neither! Hey, I'll take what I can get nowadays.

E50,
Since only the MILW and GN had turbo SD40 types, I'll have to imagine them only.
Now if I only knew what those electrics sounded like???

Dan-
I was fortunate enough to have known El Purington. He had a large batch of audio from electric days. Every time I hear those, it brings back a LOT of memories! My mind really wanders.
Maybe some day we'll be able to download good stuff from dusty old brain cells! Wouldn't that be fantastic!

I especially love the Whiteface as applied the the SD40-2s, and the Tiger stripes on the GP50's The single SD40-2 that got tigerstripes looks good in it as well.
