Does anyone know if any of the former BN units with the orange striped faces are still running around?

Not 100% sure, but I doubt it. I think they all became painted in the white face scheme - thankfully http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

I believe I saw one a few years back on a GP50. I know they also had that tiger paint on the SD60s.

i think the SD60's are still running about in a modified virsion tiger stripe as the big BN on the side was painted out with a slab of white paint (why they didnt use green i dont know) i dont think emd has repainted them into their lease colours but i could be wrong

Actually, I'm pretty sure all three of the ex-BN SD60's have been painted into the tri-color EMD Lease fleet scheme with "Electro-Motive" on the long hood. I've seen 8300 and 8302 painted like that(in fact I'm looking at a pic of tri-color 8302 at the moment). They look pretty sharp in the lease scheme!

Sorry, but all of the GP50s and the 3-SD60s that wore the orange "Tiger Stripe" paint scheme were repainted into the new white face scheme in the early 1990s.

I am pleased that they were repainted, DieselMan, as I did not like the 'tiger stripe' livery.

Personally, I never thought the BN looked better when those orange and black tiger stripes were comin' at you. Of course, I was six when they came out, but they made quite an impression on me. All of them were repainted into paleface livery by December 31, 1992.

Sadly, the only SD40-2 in tiger stripes, the 8002, was also repainted into paleface. However, it may once again be wearing the orange!

The tiger stripes are extinct no more orange tigers, but now they are wearing it again thanks to Krebs.
