Wel I am building a n scale BN B30-7A from a Atlas B23-7, and everything is going great, but... I have filled in the cab area and built it up, but from all the picturs I have seen I can not tell if there are any access doors or anything on the cab area, can anynone help me on this, a good closeup picture or such?

Thank you so much Matt, I really really really appreciate this, my model just looks kind of naked with only a white peice of styren on each side, I knew there had to be some kind of doors, now I just need to find a shell to take them off of, hopefully another B23-7 will do.

I have 10 photos of BN's 4000 series B30-7A's. You can find them at my website.

Hope this helps.

Also a nice shot available at this location, courtesy of the "Funnelfan" - Ted Curphey.

One of the big things to note is the "jog" or widening of the carbody immediately underneath the stack. This isn't found on the B23-7, but is on both the B and C 30-7 series.

My B23-7's all have jogs in them just like my C30-7's. Anyways, guys thank you for the help but I am still having a hard time finding a good shot of the non-exsitant cab area, in all the pictures I have seen it is hard to make out the details on them. Also, I guess I would be asking Matt this, do they have doors on the top of the cab too?

Guess I didn't look close enough at your pictures (as that's what I was comparing too).

Just in FYI the B30-7As are all off BNs roster. As of last year they were in PA at GE getting Cabs and were being prepared to be shipped to Saudi Arabia. Any work from there guys/gals?

Many and I mean tons of the B30-7A's are being stored at LRC ??? in Richland Washington, I really should take a day trip over the mountains to try an photo them.

This is the best photo I have, taken at Woodford on Tehachapi, Feb. 1998. Definitely a door on this side, the hinges and handle can be seen.

On your B30-7A, did you add the extra doors
on the long hood by the prime mover (8 for B30s vs. 6 for B23s), or did you just let it go? Not nitpicking at all- I've got a B23-7 shell in HO I'm wanting to convert to a B30-7
and I'm wondering about the power assembly access doors on the hood.
BTW, are you gonna show pics when you're done? smile.gif

A B30-7A has the same number of engine doors(6) as a B23-7 because they both use 12-cylinder prime movers. A B30-7 has 8 engine doors because it uses a 16-cylinder prime mover.
