Some of you may by now know that I collect railroad train orders. Here are some from my accumulated BCR.

It's always interesting to see an order like this one. Where the dispatcher wasn't informed what engines were on the trains.....

Hope the guys at Cheakamus Siding were not planning on sleeping, with the train passing some time after 9:25 pm.

What puzzles me, are two things.

First is why Number 8 was exempted from such a safety requisite? If one of the gang stepped out of their camp car, and was hit by Number 8, apparently it wouldn't hurt as much?

Plus, looking through these, all the trains with unknown engines. Somebody was really falling down on their job. And causing their dispatchers to be operating somewhat in the "dark" by not knowing. Seems as though this invites disaster!

Wow it amazes me how much things have changed, but stayed the same.
I was taught Rules by the former BC Rail Rules instructor in my Conductor course at BCIT.

Everything is now Occupancy Control System on the BCR subs. The RTC (dispatcher) issues OCS clearances, good from point to point, sometimes with restriction to protect against other trains, foremen, and switches lined incorrectly.
