Hey, alway's a closet fan of the former from up north,I went to go see the old electrics this past spring down in Tacoma, at CEECO! What a waste of good, clean, power. graemlins/shakehead.gif

I am a minor fan of the BCR. During their two tone green days. I didn't care at all for the later r/w/b colors.
During my days building rail cars, we constructed a bunch for the BCR. Believe mostly for hauling forest products. But that was 30 years ago.....
So what happened to the electrics? Weren't they being resold out of country?
Dogwood blossoms forever!

Boxcab E50 Yes, that dogwood flower scheme is also my favorite one. So I was rather disappointed to see it gone when I visited the Vancouver BC yard in 1996. Have not had a chance to get into the area since, however.
Still have a Kato SD40-2 model to finish some day. But two Alcos and a RDC (with correct top headlight) are among the models I enjoy daily.
OT: I also like the Pacific dogwood as a plant. In fact I have managed to get one growing in my garden in Switzerland where one finds this tree very rarely as an ornamental.

Where I grew up, just south of BC, in the Washington Cascades, we had dogwood trees in our yards. Always enjoyingh seeing them, as they were a pleasant announcement of Springtime.
The logo on their equipment was just simply very classy.

Boxcab E50 Thanks for this link. I really feel there is just not that much info on the net. So any addition is most welcome.

I agree. It was a very interesting operation. And in a great setting for photography.

There are still lots of BC Rail fans in Vancouver and the remainder of BC. Problem is we still haven't gotten over the mourning phase yet of the loss of our RR.
It hurts to just go to the North Vancouver station and see all that CN has torn up, discontinued, or sold off. I have so many memories there, that I don't even glance over when I drive by - I guess I'm in the denial phase myself.

Rick-
This is also how many of us felt, when the NP and GN, et al, were merged in 1970. How we felt when the Milwaukee Road was murdered via crooked financial, and legal dealings.....
We must do our best, to keep those memories of better days alive.

I think it was the January 1985 CTC Board had a good article on BC Rail. Suppose it has changed a bit since then.
Also the big MLW that landed in a lake up there was fished out a few years later as a practice attempt for future accidents.

If you don't have it in your library, and are a fan in any respect, the John F. Garden book "British Columbia Railway- From PGE To BC Rail" is a must have! (Footprint Publishing- 1995.)

Another fan of the ol' two-tone green dogwood scheme here! (Hated the later ones.) smile.gif
Just acquired a pair of dogwood-decorated ALCOs for my railroad. smile.gif
