Just thought I'd share an interesting tidbit from today's edition of our local rag. I didn't know the police could pull a train over! smile.gif

QUICK action by Montgomery County Police halted a fast freight in Rockville minutes after a Baltimore and Ohio Railroad dispatcher received a trouble call. The 100-car train, which had broken brake rigging on the 25th car, couldn’t have been stopped by railroad signals for 13 miles beyond Rockville, so the B&O dispatcher appealed to county police. Privates Meese Rider and Harry Ward flagged down the train with flashlights and the warning light on their scout car. “It could have turned into something,” A.W. Johnston, a B&O general yard manager, said of the incident. “The police did a very nice job.”
