Hello everybody! I was wondering if there is a place on this web site or on the Internet that lists events that are going around the country that have to do with railroading. My 4 year old son is getting bored a little bit with just going to the B&O Railroad museum and the other small museums around my area.

Thanks Mark

Mark, welcome to Trainboard! If you live in Maryland, there's the Western Maryland 734 running from ? up in the northern part of the state. Lots of stuff in Pennsylvania. Railfan and Railroad magazine has a list of railfan events, as does Trains magazine. John Craft's site on the net has been a source but hasn't anything listed past September this year. He's at SteamCentral (http://www.steamcentral.com/) You'll notice I'm prejudicial to steam events. :D

Jim Fitzgerald,

Thanks! I have taken my son to the Western Maryland Scenic RR up in Cumberland MD. That was a lot of fun! We got the pleasure to ride on I believe a 2-8-2 but I'd have to look at the photos to make sure. My son loves steam engines too but I think that because Thomas the Tank Engine is one. Its funny because the model trains I have Steam and my son likes the Diesels, but his Thomas toys I can only play with the Diesels.

Nice to see another B&O'er on TrainBoard! WELCOME ABOARD! :D

Nice B&O Avatar your sporting under your name! Always a delight to see more B&O railfans/buffs joining the site! The more the merrier! :D

As for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, #734 is a H-7b 2-8-0, its an ex. Reading locomotive from 1917. If not mistaken a Baldwin built.
