I am posting these to see who is on their game as far as Conrail predecessors....
This was a great day for me, many years ago, catching not 1 but 2 of these units in the same place!

I'll take a stab at it. Ex- of the Erie-Lackawanna? One of their "almost" SDP45 units? (Used the SDP45 frame for larger fuel tank capacity. But no steam generator.)

I agree with Boxcab:
VMVX6695, Ex-CR6695, Ex-EL3664
VMVX6696, Ex-CR6696, Ex-EL3665

Speaking of the SDP type models- Didn't another CR predecessor have some? I keep thinking SDP35? Central RR Of New Jersey? I'm sure that this must be close to correct?

CNJ did have 35s but I don't recall if they were SD's or SDP's.
Seaboard had a bunch of SDP35's as well.

Those may be what I'm thinking. In my mind, I see a green paint scheme. Believe the last CNJ paint was green. But wasn't the last SAL green as well?

Boxcab E50 </font>[/QUOTE]Yes, SAL had that kind of faded , dark green paint as did the CNJ. With dirt and wear it almost looked like an olive drab color.

Must be the colors were the reason I was associating this model with CNJ.
Found my old Diesel Spotters Guide. SDP 35's were SCL (Nee- ACL & SAL), and UP. Didn't recall that UP had them. Learn something new every day!
