This hardbound 200+ book was written by my father, L.M. "Mike" Hurley, an old-school Santa Fe trainman who did about everything railroad-wise, but mostly conductor and brakeman (both freight and passenger).
Gives in-depth view of passenger and freight operations, 200+ pages of b/w photos of steam
engines, cars, personnel, buildings, maps, aerials... plus tons of researched info about everything it took to keep the trains running. Great for historians and modelers. What Dad didn't know, he asked the old heads. I doubt you'll find this information elsewhere!
As one person said, "It is one of the few books I have read which details some of the minutia of operations in the steam era."
