This is a great looking sceme, and can be found on a sister road also, Califonia Northern. My question: is that the same green as BN, or their own shade?

Yes indeed, a VERY nice scheme! Although, my experience with CN locos have been GP15s and SD9s.

This was the corporate paint scheme of Park Sierra Railgroup. Park Sierra did not operate on BNSF or UP...they operated three of their own railroads that were created by purchasing branch lines and secondary mainlines cast off by "big" railroads.

Park Sierra's first line was the Arizona & California, already covered by fitz. The Arizona & California was created in 1991.

Their second railroad was the California Northern, which started operations in 1993 over several hundred miles of former Southern Pacific lines in central and northern California. Specific lines were the north end of the old West Side secondary main, from Tracy south to Los Banos; the old West Valley main, from Davis north to Tehama; a group of ex-SP branchlines from Suisun City west to Schellville, with a couple short branches off of that; and the south end of the old Northwestern Pacific, from Schellville north to Willits. The California Northern is still operating all of that except for the NWP and the last few miles north of Los Banos.

The third railroad was the Puget Sound & Pacific, which purchased a group of ex-BNSF lines in western Washington about 1996. The lines extend west from Centralia to Grays Harbor and up east side of the Olympic Penninsula.

The green and white was used on all three operations.

Unfortunately, Park Sierra was purchased by Rail America. Rail America has it's own standard paint scheme, but did state at the time of the takeover that they intended to keep the Park Sierra scheme. The Arizona & California and California Northern seem to have remained mostly green and white since, but the Puget Sound & Pacific has seen a huge influx of new power that has severely diluted the amount of green and white seen on that line.
