This little steam locomotive is parked in the yard of a house on Maine Route 191 in Machias, Maine.

I drive by there from time to time and finally remembered to bring a camera today.

It used to have a "for sale" sign propped up against it but that was not there today.

I do not know exactly what it is. I would have taken more photos but people started looking out the windows at me.

Charlie, it looks like an 0-4-0 Switcher that has had the cab removed years ago. Possible an 0-4-0t since the frame stops close to the boiler. Do you have any idea if this is Narrow guage or Standard?

It's not standard. I doubt if it is 5 or 6 feet tall.

Also, an 0-4-0 is a basic steam locomotive so it could have been built from a variety of small, not well known builders, or even the railroads building them themselves in their own shops.

My best guess is an 0-4-0t that was built by a private builder. Close inspection might give more info.
