This is a pic of the loco waiting to leave on sunday morning around 10:45am in Corsicana Tx.

The second pic is the Challenger leaving headed south bound. I wish they made a people filter, lol

The last pic was taken at track speed on the line between Richland and Wortham, Tx. Enroute to Hearne tx.

By the way, NICE shots, and I do agree, we need "people filters" for our cameras

Wyatt, thanks for posting those!! We need more steam fans here. I agree about the people filter, but on the other hand, it shows the interest in steam among the general public. Nice shots. Keep contributing. :D

Great shots, with or without people smile.gif Sometimes if there are a lot of folks around, it can be better to back off a bit and include the crowd!

Railfans deserve some recognition, too. However, they do tend to get in the way at times, as in the first picture. However, I believe they fit rather well in the second shot.

All three are excellent pix. We can never get enough of steam.

Do you know where the train originated from
and what cities north of Corsicana did it go through? Was it anywhere near Dallas?

Corsicana was basically about the closest the Challenger came to Dallas. Here's info on the trip.

And here's a shot I took, standing right next to Wyatt no less!!!

Just enough people in this excellent shot to give the proper sense of scale.

Bitterly cold weather makes for a spectacular steam show!

Russell and Jeremiah, nice shots. This thread has great coverage of that trip. We sure hope to see more like this in the future. Keep your cameras loaded and handy! Thanks to all of you. :D

Excellent shots!!

I was fortunate to shoot the 3985 in Longview, TX in 1992 and McAlester, OK in 1995. The boys were scared of the hissing and heat from the firebox, but after I got them to touch the cowcatcher-type pilot, they were less scared.

BTW, am I the only one here to get the irony of a machine named Challenger visiting Houston?? (think NASA, which is just down the road, and is an awesome place to visit....) graemlins/wink.gif
