Some very good pictures in the album. How about these SD9's - the good old days!

Just realised how high on the bodyside the "SOUTHERN PACIFIC" is! Was this usual with these locomotives?

I'm hoping to get some model photos in there soon.
Thank you for the comments!

John was wondering if these were the "real thing" or not. Yes, they are real FTs. The A unit is one of the original #103 cab units that Southern Railway bought and renumbered to 6100. The B unit was not from the demo set but was Southern # 4103C. When the A unit was retired, Southern donated it to the St. Louis Museum of Transportation. EMD borrowed it and the B unit which was at the Virginia Transportation Museum and repainted them to the original demo paint scheme for the celebrate the 50th anniversary of these engines in 1989.

Ah, thanks, Russ! They say the first thing to go is your memory! graemlins/220.gif
I remembered something about the Southern connection, but the rest is long gone. Most of the photos in my album are from the 80s, when I was just a young lad. I'm glad I saved them!

Is it possible for a man to look any happier? http://www.railimages.com/albums/johndyson/aai.sized.jpg

I thought this one was full of character and plenty of modellable ideas.

Those shots of the SP equipment are one of the benefits of being a truck driver. I had something for the SP signal dept. and I got to go back behind the shops. This area is also where the California State Railroad Museum stores equipment awaiting restoration. I think there's a shot of a ATSF 4-8-4 hiding behind some other cars in my album.
John, that happy man is courtesy of a good woman. My girlfriend surprised me with a rental at the Feather River Rail Society. I highly recommend it! I'm going back sometime soon. Very nice people and a lot of great sites.

Harold;
That photo is probably ten or fifteen years old. When I was there, I was hoping they were going to be rebuilt. Somehow, I don't think so, but I could be wrong.
The photo that really makes me sad is this, a group of U Boats sitting in a scrapyard graemlins/shakehead.gif http://www.railimages.com/albums/johndyson/aap.sized.jpg

Harold </font>[/QUOTE]John,
I realize that a lot of these old locos are/have been rebuilt... now including tunnel motors! I like this type of recycling!
