I have tried all the methods mentioned in your instructions to find the link to an individual picture in my gallery. I am using either Apple Safari or Internet Explorer. In either case I don't get the image location (in IE I don't get a "Properties" option). Is there a trick for Mac's?

not sure but last time I messed with a mac it was close to the same,, had Mac at the fire house for a long time.

The properties option you need to hover the cursor over the picture and right click you should then get a window or box that has a list of things one of them should be the properties normally the properties is at the bottem of the list

I'm not sure myself but Pete Nolan uses a Mac and he figured it out so hopefully he can shed some light on it.

I'm not sure exactly what you want, but "control clicking" the picture brings up a menu that might be considered "properties". Control clicking is holding down the "control" key while clicking on the subject (in this case a picture).

The problem is -- I got the box - it just doesn't have a "properties" category and none of the options it does give me, work. I can get a URL (basically the site /my name/ then aaa (as in "the first picture")) but when I insert it in a reply, I get a little square (picture icon?) with a question mark on it. So I don't think it's the correct URL?

Any ideas (by the way, Mac's have "right click" too)

I am not sure if this will help but this is the I.E. for mac MS offical help page you may find some help here. There is also a community that may be able to help get you some answers.

Maybe someone could post just what an appropriate URL for a picture within a Railimages web page looks like. In fact maybe someone with a PC could get me the appropriate URL from my Railimage file, specifically picture #1 (or aaa, as in attached) -- anyway here's my Railimage URL:
http://www.railimages.com/gallery/jeffgerow/aaa

[the big question -- is the URL above what I should use in the list?]

The link above gets you the webpage including the surround. This is the one you want I believe.

http://www.railimages.com/albums/jeffgerow/aaa.sized.jpg

And used with the IMG tags:
http://www.railimages.com/albums/jeffgerow/aaa.sized.jpg

I also have a Mac, so let me see if I can get a photo up the same way on another forum... http://www.railimages.com/albums/johndyson/abo.sized.jpg

What you do is, right click on the image; you will get a menu window; scroll down to "copy image location" and highlight it.
When you are replying, paste the address in the window provided.

Wacky!! I'm not sure if there is a bug, new code, or the webmaster was trying to "clean" things up, but in a post I made a year ago www.trainboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/ubb/get_topic/f/76/t/000011.html? (http://www.trainboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi/ubb/get_topic/f/76/t/000011.html?) things were different! There is no longer a URL beneath the pictures in the galleries. The only way I was able to post this picture was to control click on the thumbnail of the picture I wanted, select "copy the link to clipboard", write this post, select "image" from the Instant UBB Code menu, paste in the URL (Command + v), replace the word gallery in the URL with albums, then add .sized.jpg to the end so end result goes from this: www.railimages.com/gallery/jeffgerow/aaa (http://www.railimages.com/gallery/jeffgerow/aaa) to this: www.railimages.com/albums/jeffgerow/aaa.sized.jpg (http://www.railimages.com/albums/jeffgerow/aaa.sized.jpg) Too wild! Either I'm missing something, or you need a two button mouse, which Mac users abhor, you have to really jump through some hoops! But probably I'm just missing something as usual. Wild! http://www.railimages.com/albums/jeffgerow/aaa.sized.jpg

That looks to be the answer -- I'll make those changes in the URL and hopefully I'll be able to put pictures where I want.

By the way, I am a Mac user with a two button (and scroll wheel) mouse - and wouldn't give it up!

Thank you all for your help!

So, Jeff, the right clicking didn't work on your Mac anyway? I've heard rumors of people liking those mice... smile.gif 2 buttons and a scroll wheel? I'm impressed, you must be very good with the hands, probably helps in modeling. Did you switch to Mac from Windows?

I have an iMac with a two button mouse and a track ball. I like it a whole lot better than the regular Mac one button mouse. It's nice to be able to scroll and move the curser around without having to move the mouse itself.

"did I switch from PC to Mac?"

I was an original Apple II user and switched to Mac when it first came out (yes, I had a 512 Mac). I work designing A/V systems and was happy to retire my pencil for WYSIWYG (other than the OS, "What You See I what You Get" is the main reason I went with a Mac -- remember how long it took PC's to get to WYSIWYG, and some aren't yet there). I've had two other Apples before my present PowerBook G4 (which is a most wonderful computer)
-- and now I can link Pix, too (with minor surgery of the URL...)

Would somebody be willing to write a procedure so I can put it on our website please????

To insert images from a Railimage album on a Mac:

1. Control click on the thumbnail you want posted.
2. From the pop-up menu that appears, select "copy link to clipboard"
3. Write your new post and from the Instant UBB Code menu (directly under the message window) click "image".
4. A new window will appear. Simply press command-v (or Paste from the edit menu) and the link to your picture will appear in the window. Now click "OK".
5. You will see the link in your message. Now highlight the word gallery and replace it with albums.
6. At the end of the link there will be three letters (ie: aaa, aba, aac, etc.) After these three letters type in exactly this: .sized.jpg The end of the URL will look like this: /albums/name-of-person/aaa.sized.jpg
7. Click "Preview Post" when you are finished to see the results.
8. Click "Add Reply" when you are satisfied with the results.

Colonel, I wrote another version but my satellite connection went out for a while. I'm not sure if this is easier or not. Maybe you can decide. It's very similar.

To insert images from a Railimage album on a Mac:

1. Click on the thumbnail you want posted. A larger version will appear.
2. At the top of your browser, you will see the URL. Highlight the word gallery and replace it with albums.
3. At the end of the URL there will be three letters (aaa, aba, aac, etc.) After these three letters type in exactly this: .sized.jpg The URL will now look similar to this: http://www.railimages.com/albums/name-of-person/aaa.sized.jpg
4. Now copy the entire URL including the http://www...
5. Write your new post and from the Instant UBB Code menu (directly under the message window) click "image".
6. A new window will appear. Press command-v (or select "Paste" from the Edit menu). The URL you copied will appear in the window. Now click OK.
7. Click "Preview Post" when you are finished to see the results.
8. Click "Add Reply" when you are satisfied with the results.
