As you can see, we have been shut down again. I have arranged to pay for additional bandwidth and asked them to turn the site back on.

We really appreciate the donations and I again remind folks that if they want RailImages to continue, we are going to have to pay for it year around.

Let me again explain for folks that do not understand, it is not the storage space that costs us so much, it is the bandwith - the transfer of images as viewed thousands of times, that costs us the most money.

Thank you for your efforts. Bandwidth is expensive.

Just how expensive?
How much for a single GB of bandwidth? How much are we at now?

I can't give you an exact dollar figure because it's all part of a package. It isn't a case of saying a gig costs X number of dollars.

We have used over 30 gigs since we turned the site back on though and if you compare that to your personal web site(s), you will see that it can get pricey.

I've noticed the ATLAS HO forum is also doing a Sunday night photo. Would it reduce the demand on the bandwidth if one of these was moved to a different night?
Also, how long does our "contributor" button stay lit?

NO bandwidth is calculated over the month so moving to different days wouldnt make a difference.
