Due to an issue with our web host, Rail Images has been suspended we will endeavour to have the site up ASAP but possibly on a new web host.

Sorry for the inconvenience but we are trying to have Rail Images back as soon as possible.

I'm sorry to hear that as I'm sure many other people are sorry to hear that as well. Hopefully you will find an alternate host soon.

Was the issue too much monthly bandwidth?

Paul, does this mean that the images I have stored at railimages won't show as links to my posts?

Sorry to hear that.

If they suspended your site, how come this message board still works? Were you using separate hosts for the rail images and this message board?

I host a few sites myself and I'd help you out but I'm not sure that I could meet your bandwidth requirements. Disk space and processor utilization isn't an issue for me but bandwidth can be.

The othe rissue I have is that AOL blocks mail from my mail server which I really don't give a crap about but for my customers that need to email people on AOL, that's a problem for them. It's also a problem for my message board software because anyone from AOL can't receive email from the message board software (ie. for lost passwords, new account registration, etc.)

I think the reason AOL blocked me is because I have a dynamic IP address (however it rarely changes). They categorize anyone with a dynamic IP address an internet felon and a threat to the decent internet society (ie. bulk mailing, hacking, porn, etc. is generated from dynamic IP addresses to help hide identity).

I'm going to look into getting a static IP address. Last time I checked they wanted $300/mo. Hardly worth it for me.

I got away from AOL entirely, and went to a local ISP, which was cheaper (and easier to find someone if I had problems, which, oddly enough, I didn't). IN any case, I use Yahoo as my primary email server, and am on a broadband ISP here in Sherman (cableone.com).

With that much trouble, sounds like you'd be better served with another local ISP, as even for the dial-ups there are cheaper alternatives. You can always set either Yahoo! or MSN as a home page, and use either Yahoo! mail or MSN Hotmail.

Wish I had a better alternative for a server for Railimages........ :( .....good luck with the search.

I have a couple of other hosts lined up and that will take a little bit of time to implement.

The place that was hosting RailImages was http://www.nexpoint.net/ in case anyone would like to drop these dirty birds an e-mail and tell them how they will never get any of your dollars.

When we started the site, they were all for it. Now they say it is abusive and they want $25 to let us back the site up by FTP.

Update: I have tried to call them on the phone to talk about it but they refuse to speak to me on the telephone.

The do have a toll free number to call though. Of course they smile.gif pay for those calls.

That number would be 1-866-639-7646.

Holy cow this situation is messed up.

Why are they treating you so badly?! It sounds like they are absolutely hostile over this if hey won't let you get to your data. And they won't take any calls to discuss it?

If the data is important, you might have to be the bigger man here and just give those jerks the $25, grab your data, and get the hell out of dodge. Later on we can get the I hate nexpoint.net website going.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

What did they mean by our site using too much resources of the server? graemlins/headscratch.gif

So, being railimages is down, does this mean the pictures we had uploaded will be gone an have to upload them again ???? Or will we get them back ??? graemlins/headscratch.gif

Sounds almost like what happen to the fallen flags site..... was OVER popular an it took up bandwidth an had defeated itself almost....

Is this whats goin on here??? I think I'd get the site opened, get let everyone get their pictures an then like Jason said.... Get the hell outta dodge!

I'm with Jason- you would have to go way far down to deal with those pinheads- ain't worth the hassle. Best thing to do is give the recta their money, get access to the info, and blow that pop stand.

They have no clue, unless they equate success in the formation of many photo albums in Railimages to abuse. Five will getcha ten they never even looked at what was being posted.

Is there a legal standing for us in getting our pics back from this site, since it was WE the members who posted OUR photos to this site. WE should have the right to get OUR photos back from these folks. I'm all for having Railimages at another site, if they can handle the traffic we seem to generate.

I'm already working on something new and it should not take long to get something going. Hopefully, you will like this better.
