"I had a look at the code of your post above, and it seems you pasted the image url directly into the topic, instead of clicking the IMAGE button below the text box and pasting into the window which pops up. This adds at the beginning and at the end to make the picture show in the post."

I tried to figure this out but couldn't. When I go to my album and click on pics and bring them up, I don't see an image button under the text box.

I am assuming I go to images, then enter my album, the click on an image (and this assumption could be wrong), but I don't see anything to bring up any little boxes to add the IMG.

I also tried going into the "help" section, but it won't load.

Rick,
This is real easy once you see it without any confusion. At the bottom of the pic that you want to show from Rail Images, is a code. Here is one from your album
http://www.railimages.com/album/Rick%20Nicholson/layout9.jpg

Copy the code like you would any other type of coping by right clicking your mouse and hitting "copy". Here's the most important part now; before you "paste " you must do this;

then the http code that you copied then Here is what it should look like.

http://www.railimages.com/album/Rick%20Nicholson/layout9.jp

Leave no spaces.
So to sum it all up, all you need to do to get a picture to come up rather than just the url, is to add at the beginning of the url and at the end.

You shouldn't have any problem now. Try it
Thomas

When I go to my album and click on pics and bring them up, I don't see an image button under the text box. Rick, the "IMAGE" button is actually in the Trainboard.com POST form, not in RailImages. What Alan is trying to point out is that when you create a post, don't just "paste" the URL into the post. Use the "IMAGE" button, located in the "Instant UBB Code" section. This will pop up a dialogue box asking for the URL.

I can get it to work everywhere except here.

Edit: Rick, I checked this one and all that was wrong was the g was missing from .jpg so you maybe did not highlight quite all the url.

On this one you had copied the url in the browser address bar instead of the url shown below the photograph.

This is the one in the browser bar http://www.railimages.com/cgi-bin/album.pl?photo=Rick%20Nicholson/layout9.jpg

This is the one below the photo http://www.railimages.com/album/Rick%20Nicholson/layout9.jpg

You can see there are subtle differences ;)

Thomas After you copy the address where your photo is go to the site where you want to post the photo and click on reply. Ypu can type yoa note first of paste the photo first and then the note. Below the space for the note you will see 10 boxes and the bottom right is IMAGE. Click on image and a box will come on above the note for the address. Put the cursor in this box and right click and your photo address will show up. Then click on PASTE and your photo will be inserted into the note. You can add more info after the photo address if you like.

Rick, I took the liberty of editing your two posts above to show the reasons the pics were not showing.

All will become clear with just a little practise smile.gif

He's at an Army Cadet camp in Banff Alberta in an adventure program. Mountain climbing, packbacking, mountain biking, white water canoeing, etc. He will be back around 15 August.

He has been accepted into a Presidential Exchange, so will be travelling to Toronto for some training, then to Quebec City for a cultural tour, then to New Hampshire for more mountain climbing, etc.... misses the first two weeks of school in fall for this.
