At approximately 8:00am MST I was out on my way to purchase the Sunday Newspaper. Living in Wagon Mound, NM (NE New Mexico) on the Raton Sub there isn't much rail traffic; however, there was an empty grain train making it's way through town. The last of three units was a FerroMex unit that I've never seen but in pictures. How rare are these units in the USA? I snapped four or so pics; however, I don't have a digital camera so I'll have some picsin a few days when I develope my film. smile.gif

Nice find! Speaking of Mexican railroads, there were 2 NdeM boxcars in Tacoma, Wa. a day ago! Just a little out of the way! :D Speaking of which, is there a section on Mexican railroads on here? I don't recall seeing it. graemlins/headscratch.gif

I don't know if there is a section for the Mexican RR's. I'll post some pics here in a few days. I also have some pics of a TFM loco on am empty coal train in Trinidad, CO.

Where you live what's the main RR? These empty grain trains are coming out of Mexico (I think). There's times when they have UP loco's, CN loco's and now FerroMex. Where exactly in Mexico is FerroMex run lines through?

Here's a link to the FerroMex website, and specifically to their route map. The red lines are FerroMex routes.

Cool thanks! Do you live in a location where FerroMex operates? If so do you see any BNSF, UP, CSX, NS, CN, CP or any other locos in your area?

"Do you live in a location where FerroMex operates?"
Unfortunately, I don't live in an area where any railroad operates. The closest rail line to me is 130 miles north in Tampico. Both FerroMex and TFM (excuse me, KCSdeM) have routes into Tampico, and I have actually seen (and photo'd) a FerroMex unit just north of Tampico. Not good enough to post, but i did get it.

I Caught a TFM SD-70 in Jacksonville, FL, 1-17-06, bracketed by two NS units !

What a surprise. !!

Lastnight I saw a Bare Table unit train headed North (east) going through Wagon Mound, NM (Raton Sub). The train had two locos on it; one unit was a NS and the other a FerroMex unit. It was already dark and I didn't have my camera; however, hopefully I'll see them again during the day, when I have my camera.

The yellow and black unit. Who does it belong to? What markings were on it? The FerroMex units I've seen looked exactly like that one. I've seen them on empty unit grain trains and unit bare table trains. GREAT PICS, I'm still trying to get my RailImages going???

IIRC, it's a former Susie-Q SD45 now owned by Montana Rail Link and on lease

The Susie-Q SD45 had ICE on the cab, which is Iowa Chicago & Eastern.
