First off, welcome to Trainboard!
Second, I can recommend two good sources of KCS info- one is the KCS Historical Society, another is kcsnotes at Yahoo!Groups. I think there is a fee for the KCSHS, but I know for sure that kcsnotes is free.

There are more than enough knowledgeable folks there that can help you.

Oh yes, one more- Railspot. It's also a Yahoo! Group, and membership is free- it covers railroading in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas & Kansas.
