Here's a shot taken by Ed Adams of Poteau, OK, and sent to me via email the other day. KCS GP38-2 4016 leads a southbound Dodger back towards Heavener, OK. through a snowstorm.

Dodger? I'll guess this is a term from the area for a local train?

:D

On KCS, a "dodger" is a local train that works the shippers on a given subdivision, all the time trying to stay out of the way, or "dodge",
through trains.

It's also a term for freights that work branches, such as the Ft. Smith Dodger that runs between Heavener and Ft. Smith, on the ex-Frisco line from Poteau to Ft. Smith.
