When I lived in Ft. Smith from July 1979 to February 1982, I chased the KCS from Spiro, OK south through Panama and Heavener, OK to the route over Rich Mountain (paralleled by US 59 most of the route). Where I'm at now, all I have to do is head down US75 to Plano, then east to Wylie. Heavener is a distance away now, but when I go to see my oldest kids in Arkansas, I'll swing by & shoot what I can find.

Friscobob, here is a set of Rivarossi HO KCS E-8's I will be putting up for auction on eBay a bit later on. The nearest A unit is numbered 25 and there is some photos of it on George's site in full color. The full set of matching passenger cars is on eBay, (or was). A couple of times we drove along beside one like this coming south through Oklahoma. Sure a pretty train, but no side rods!

The above is a pic of two former KCS diesels, neither of which is now running. F7A slug SL1 was KCS 4055, nee F7. It was last used on Texas Division trains coupled with powered F7s, before it was sold to Kiamichi in 1990. KRR mated it to GP7 705, ex- KCS 4156, nee 156.

Back to the left is former KCS GP9U 4162, KCS's only chopnosed first-generation Geep. It was rebuilt & rewired by KCS, but an electrical fire sidelined it. It was sold to KRR along with the other Geeps & slugs, and has become a parts source.

Some good information on those sites. I have not taken much note of KCS stuff before, but have to say they have some cool looking locomotives! Those white ones would be a snip to model ;) And the new scheme on the big GE's looks great!

Just goes to show that we should widen our sphere of interest smile.gif

KCS used white on their diesels from the late 1960s til the about 1990 or so, when the gray scheme came out.
