I, like many of you, don't like to upgrade unless forced too (that usually means a new operating system that obsoletes most of my computor software goodies). BUT you and I will be up grading our computors: Why? Because when Microsoft's Train Simulator comes out, we will all find out how old our computor's really are.
Yep, that's the game that will force you to upgrade......lol

I don't think so. I spend far too much time at the computer now and I won't be playing Train Simulator whether my machine will handle it or not (and it will).
What I want is to get back to my railroad!

I for one, want to try the MS train simulator.
I think it will be great fun. Surely it will work with Windows 98 but I will upgrade to Windows ME if I have too as it is affordable.
any one seen or heard when this simulator will be available?
I like everything railroad oriented and even have fun with Railroad Tycoon II. I still spend more time on my railroad than I do on my PC though.

I've already upgraded in th last month to a fairly decent machine (733) that would probably handle MS Train Simulator and most everything else MS currently sells, home or otherwise.
But I know that good Ole' Billie is workin' on sumthin' else thet'll bog it down and make me want sumthin fester!
That's almost a fact of life now. "Son, it's time we had a talk..."

... "but I will upgrade to Windows ME if I have too"
STOP RIGHT THERE!!!
Think long and hard, and find drivers for everything you have first! And you wont.
A mate has scored some excellent overtime from a company that upgraded all their PC's to ME that is going BACK to WIN98SE...
So far I have heard nothing that would change me from 98se and nothing too good is being said on forums about 2k or ME!

My (not online yet) AMD Duron 650MHz Wasted a Pentium III 700 Copermine In a bentchmark test. So I shuld be okay.
Actually. Microsoft has reported to be knowing that the average railfan does not have a decked out system for gameing. and thrus is Designing MSTS (Microsoft Train Simulator) to run excelent on older systems (IE Pre MMX Pentiums) I have heard that this game my require systems speeds as low as 100MHz. Granted it will run better on the newer systems but it will still run decent on older systems. Now the big question is how much Microsoft will charge us for this software. I dont expect it to be cheap.

Hey, All you manufacturer's-shut it down! Stop with the model making!
You Hobby Shop Owners! Close your doors, burn your inventory, and send your families into bankruptcy!
Magazines! HA, whose got time to read anymore. http://www.trainboard.com/rolleyes.gif
Man, now I've gotta figure out what to do on Friday nights since theres no more train club, or railfan night. http://www.trainboard.com/confused.gif
Santa Claus? Forget the memories of seeing the train run around the Christmas Tree!
Kids, nah, they're too into Sony Playstation anyway!
And even if there was a kid interested, who cares?
MY POINT:
Two wonderful blessings:
1. Modelling Railroads and living out our dreams, if you will, of participating in the railroad industry, but are unable for what ever reason,
...and
2. Daydreaming along the side of the tracks wondering what it was like back some 75 years, or what it is to be in the modern era.
are in severe danger of being left behind, because we don't use the first, and consequently best computer, ever given to us: OUR BRAINS...( imaginations )!
Couple that locomotive to the best consist, YOUR HEART, and then bring up the rear, with a MEMORY! And there you have the best software package from the MASTER PROGRAMMER.
Who is that: http://www.trainboard.com/confused.gif
OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST! http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif
HE LOVES STEAM!, ( diesels too! ) http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif
Try and outmatch that, Bill Gates!
I raise my cup to all railfanners, modellers, and enthusiasts!
Keep our hobbies alive with (com)passion! Share your interests with someone!
God Bless you one and all!
