I have been looking all over my PC for a way to add/remove the tiny icons in the lower right task bar (system tray). I have no problem adding them to the left side, but how do you place one in the right side. {I am aware of a few programs I have that have a click box..."add to task bar"...} thanks...

PS. you guys are the greatest, I can't find answers to my questions any where without getting a flame or a "stay on topic" and here we are a family and I know it is a pain in the bu_t sometimes but I can only learn by asking... I have learned tons on my own, but when I can't figure it out, you guy's are there for me, Thanks!

Espee, I'm certainly no expert, but you can remove (at least temporarily) any of those icons by right-clicking on them, which usually produces a menu of selections, one of which is usually to minimize or exit. Another way is to hit CNTL-ALTN-DEL and that produces a task list. If you disable or end a task that has an icon down there, the icon disappears.
As far as adding them, in my case they just show up after I install some accessible program. There is a create icon option on several programs that allow you to put one in there.
You can also make the entire tool bar disappear, but I forgot how. Sorry.

why do you want to?

and what ones do you want to remove. they are all different in the way to remove..

get yourself a proggy called TWEAKUI, should be in downloads.cnet.com or www.tucows.com (http://www.tucows.com)

I guess I would like to add them more than remove them. I was just hoping there was a file folder somewhere to look at them and play around with them, like you can for the ones on the left...

RR Topic Shmopic,

The far right hand side of the 'task bar' is called the 'system tray.' Most of the icons in there are loaded at startup. Real Player being a good example. If your right click on those Icons you can launch the programs or sometimes set the properties. In the properties (almost always available from the application itself) you can usually set things like 'load at startup,' 'show icon in system tray' etc.
If you are always getting messages when you boot that a 'scheduled task did not complete' find the task scheduler in the system tray and double click on it. From the application on of the drop down menus (Options I think) has a "stop using task scheduler" option. Click it and close the scheduler. You will never be bothered with that message again. (Of course if you use the task scheduler then by all means, don't to this!)

What you can't do is add icons to the tray to serve as shortcuts. If that is what you are trying to do, they you should look at the task bar itself - right click on it and select toolbars > this will give you a new menu - select 'quick launch' and you will see a new section in your task bar that you can add or remove shortcuts by dragging and dropping.

Hope this helps. If you need more help I am happy to assist off line - but I reckon this is the club car and I bet some other trainboarders could get a few tips out of this thread. There are more ways to control what happens when your PC boots and I am happy to help.

SP - just re-read your post. You can move the 'quick launch' section of your task bar. Mouse over the little vertical line until the cursor turns into a right-left arrow - click and drag the quick launch bar over to the right side next to the system tray. That's were I like to keep mine.
