Hi! New member, here. My name is Randy, and I've built 15 websites with my Webtv. I created my logo with Webtv. When I first got it, everyone said you can't do things with a Webtv. One of my websites won a Geocities Award when it was two months old. I've also built websites for business people. I love my Webtv. I can sit on the couch and surf the net. Hope I didn't bore everybody! web pageNickel Plate Home (http://www.angelfire.com/de2/nickelplate/index.html) tongue.gif

Hi Randy. Yes, I agree about webtv. To our friends who haven't seen one, I'll explain. It is a web browser that sits on top of the tv. It's soul purpous is to have internet access. It has no hard drive or any way to store info or software. all info like email, favorites, (bookmarks) and pagebuilder are at the webtv servers. I like the webtv email, it has a fire wall and never gets viruses. The only drawback is it won't read text attachments. I too have built my website with webtv. How? By learning html, and how pages are built. Graphics can be created at numerous web sites and placed on your web host server via FTP. any one ever try " http://transloader.com "? it's an awesome ftp host, free and no file size limit (only while using a PC instead of webtv, you get a "cannot find server" page after hitting the upload button. but it did work) Web hosts such as geocities, tripod, anglefire, etc. are good places to start and play around with html.

I took the leap and got my own domain name, and I have a host I pay 10$ per month for. It has an in-house text editor, as was needed for webtv. http://speedsoft.com is the best host I have ever had, very fast reliable up to date servers, 3-way back-up, and tech support within 30-min (99% of the time).

I owe alot to webtv for getting me started, I wasn't able to afford a computer, so for 199$ I was on the web. and soon creating my own web pages.

Now I have a computer and anoy everyone by asking questions...LOL, but that is how I learned html, by asking Q's and viewing source codes. I still make my pages from scratch so far. :D

Thanks for the description of WebTV - I have seen plenty of reference to it on the web, but have not gained an understanding of what it actually is, until now.

I don't think we have anything like it here in Australia.

Gary.
