Has this ever happened to you... when I go to download something from the net or the web, half the time it works fine. here is what happens the other half:

I click download...

next window askes me what I want to do (download to discs..etc) I click ok or next,

next window says where do you want to download it to... all normal proceidure, BUT the "file name" is not of the product or attachment, it is of the page with with the original download button on it and "file type" is html document. if I click download, and go to see it after, it is not my product or attachment, it is the page with the download button on it.

ever since I removed gozilla this has happened twice. did gozilla screw up something?

Are you talking about downloading a photo or other graphic image?

To do this easily (in Windows98) position your cursor over the photo or any graphic image and >right click< on it which opens up a box with an option called "Save Picture As" that will copy only the picture with the appropriate extension .jpg .gif
.bmp etc. You have to wait until the
complete image is shown If you right click
on it while it is still downloading it won't
work

If you have a webpage up and go to file and
"Save as" then you are downloading the entire page

Hope this helps

some attachments in email are html files with the images on them...

as for the downloading of the programs, sometimes you need to click the link to have it download rather than right click SAVE AS...

some pages when it says CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD, that link wont be the one that has the download, that link is to another page with the download on... If you right clicked on that and said SAVE AS, it would save the page not the program..

So if you click on the CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD, it opens a page, then the link may be there..

 My work here is done..

no... thats not it... I am realy having problems...Ok, lets say, I go to download my new html editor, it says... "click here to download your new html editor".. ok...I click it, it does the normal stuff,.... "how do you want to save this file"...(to disc).. next page... "where do you want to save this file"...(programs)... I click download... it only lasts a second..."file downloaded"... I go to click it in my program files (the destination), it is of the page..."click here to download your new html editor".. I have downloaded 3 things successfully, plus a number of my girl friends "recording.wav" files from email... so now it is acting up... I hope I made it clear... my fingers are tired...LOL Thanks for any help

note: I had gozilla, I totally deleted gator and zipzilla and everything associated with gozilla...

Ok... here's the deal... I just went to download a German dictionary to go with my Note Tab html editor... it worked fine it said "file name" (German dictionary). "file type" (compressed) and it will work that way... I went through the same procedure the other night for a Thesaurus and it said "file name" (getmsg) "file type" (html document" and that is what I get with the email too and the stupid page with the button on it... sheesh it's being fickle on me... could it be a Hot Mail thing? any clues?

ok, it sounds like some of the links available to initiate downloads are not set correctly. Having a file type quoted as 'html' means it is just that, not the actual program file (in .zip or whatever) you are expecting.
Best deal is to place the URL of the pages you are having trouble with here so we may have a look at the problems you are facing from the same side of the fence.

I have figured it out... I was choosing {"what would you like to do with this file"}... (=load to discs) but that only is needed for a program. In email like my recording.wav files, I need only to choose ...(=open this file from its current location) well, I tried that but it would click back to try again, as if it was a wrong choice. A fellow from work said just click it 2 or 3 times and it will work... well it worked, it saved it to the temporary internet files and I transfered it to my file of choice.
