Okay here is the question of the day (or many day to come)
<Center><font size=100> What do you Prefer </font size=100></center>
<center><font size=100><font color=green>AMD</font color=green> or <font color=blue>Intel</font color=blue>? </font size=100></center>
<font color=red>And please lets not turn this into a flamewar.</font color=red>
This is ment to be a simple tech question just to see what people like.

My sister built my PC. I told her what I wanted it to do, and it does http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif So I really don't care what is inside it http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

My only experience is with Intel so thats what I would go for.
The only other cpu was a motorolla in my old Amiga. As others have said. Who cares, as long as the cpu does what it is supposed to.

AMD... by a long mile. Price and performance...
Its like M/Soft V Apple/Linux etc... Better marketing with pathetic ads (they are here in aussie anyway!)
goto their site and check out every benchmark.
they EAT, Chew, and SPIT OUT INTELS...
Ive owned 1 INTEL... P100.. Then only CYRIX and AMD's.. Nothing but extremely impressed..
But its also interesting to not that a lot of big companies are now selling LINUX as standard too.. so things are changing all round!

I have this friend that works at Circuit City on the side, (for good deals on parts etc...) his real buisness is computer repair, been doing it for a very long time. He says the new PentiumIII and IV are awesome, AMD Duron and Athlon are awesome, and basically to stay away from Intel Celeron, so I went with the AMD Duron 750mz, I pick it up tomorrow!

Nice chart, but where is the high end PIII and PIV data? Is it no coincidence that the chart was produced by AMD to support their claims to fame?

That is the high end PIII,(800Mgz), Duron out performs PIII in almost all fields, it doesn't show the P4 because they compare their "Athlon"(1.2Ghz) product with the P4 http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

AMD Athlon is what I have. I got it because it's faster and cheaper than a Intel P3 running at the same mhz.

They ment the Duron to compair to the Celerons Instead its competeing with PIII Coopermines! and its cheaper than any of them. The 1.2 GHz Athlon is competeing with the 1.5 GHz PIV and in some cases beating it.

The Athlons beating the Intel p4's?!! The Athlons were originaly designed to compete with the p3's and AMD's future "sledgehammer" chips were going to compete with p4's. Just imagine what Sledgehammer will do to p4's then.

SledgeHammer (and its other "Hammer" cousins) are going to compete with Itanium (intels 64 bit chip) Athlon Ultra (next generation of Athlon) is due out this summer.
