I've seen a lot of railroad GIFs out there, and ahve put a few on my websites (with the proper recognition as to the maker of the GIFs http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif ), and I'm wanting to make some myself.
How do you go about making GIFs? I need some Frisco locomotives for my webpage.

Well, I figure using the existing .gifs as a 'guide' recolouring them in a graphics program like Paint Shop Pro or similar. You might want to create the a little larger to avoid fingers being pointed, if you know what I mean (not that I am condoning infringement of copyright)... http://www.trainboard.com/wink.gif

I should have added, with Paint Shop Pro 6 and 7, Paintshop animator is provided to create animated gifs. It requires each frame to be made seperately but you can string the gifs together easily and vary each frame's timing.

I am one of the original creators of these gif drawings you are talking about. I use a paint program and zoom in so you can paint each pixel one at a time. It may not look right when you paint it that close, so you need to "fool the eye" into thinking there are numbers, etc. You can see my gif scene at http://www.trainweb.org/mattsdepot/wmr.html
I have combined my train gifs collection with another guys at: http://www.trainweb.org/tgifs

It has been a nice hobby, but I have since gottne into photos more. I still do scenes however. Have fun!

Thanks for the help, guys.
And Matt, if you look at my homepage, you'll discover I've expanded my credits section for the GIFs I'm using. I had them listed on my Oklahoma and North Eastern RR page (my model RR), but now all the names link to your
individual websites.
I'll check out Paint Shop Pro.......
