Im sure you know by now that Yahoo has aquired "WebRing", this is fine, and I have no problem with that... except... before, when something is wrong with my rings I can notify a ring master, and get an answer in a few hours or a day or so, like if your page server goes down for a while, and they "remove" you temporarily from the ring, you can tell him what's up,,, but now. will there still be ring masters?, will I have to wait 2-weeks to get a responce from yahoo, like I do on all other yahoo matters? I'm thinking that, the rings them selves will remain the same and still have ring masters, just the "webring" end of the deal will change...I hope what do you think?

I can't answer your question, but it seems like Yahoo is buying everyone- even Google is in the fold...

It appears that Trainweb is not happy with some of the changes Yahoo are making, and are going to have their own webring server, called RAILrings. This will host trainweb webring, and will be available to other rail-related webrings to join. This is as I understand the emails from trainweb. Hopefully all rail rings will be on this one ring.

lots of rings are going somewhere else... hmm... I get more hits from other friends links than I do from rings anyway, you suppose Yahoo will buy them too?...LOL

The trainweb RAILring is up and running. I have signed up for it with all my sites.

I am very satisfied with the Trainweb hosting of my Andersley Western site, and am pleased the webring is now not part of the Yahoo empire http://www.trainboard.com/wink.gif

Just thought I'd let you all know the Railroad webring has now left yahoo and has started on its own server. You need to reaply to join the list.
here is the eamil i received notifying me of the change

The RingMaster of Railroad WebRing Ring has sent you the following message:

"Due to problems with the new Yahoo:WebRing system, the Railroad Webring has moved to it's own server and software. On December 1st, 2000, the Yahoo:Webring version of the Railroad WebRing will be removed. If you wish to remain a member of the Railroad WebRing, you must go to our home page at http://webring.rrdepot.com and sign up for the new service. This new service is on-line and operational as of today.

The new service is easier to use, faster, and allows me to continue using the customized graphics. You can have a new account in minutes, the code can be obtained through e-mail or on-line, and new sites will be added ASAP.

Please remember to remove the webring code for the Yahoo:Webring BEFORE you add the new code. Keeping the old graphics will result in an error after December 1st.

If you have any questions about this new system, don't hesitate to email me and ask. I will be happy to help everyone get the code for the new system up and running on their sites.

Thank you for being a member of the Railroad WebRing. I hope hte new system will continue to provide high-quality and high-speed service in delivering new customers and visitors to your web site."
