Paul,
Submit the dead URL to the search engines. That will delete it. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

Most ISP will allow you a redirector from your old URL for a month or so, in your case with large amounts of hits it gets, it would be useful to look into this.
Also when you put your new URL up for the search engines, do this more than once.

that's a good idea... submit the dead url.(?) however, the way I read it at yahoo, and infoseek and other major SE's was to just submit your new url, eventually, the spiders will go back to re-spider your old url, find it dead, and the index bot will delete your old url from the list...
this may take a while... I still have my original URL from 6-months ago on some SE's...
one word on yahoo... google is now owned by yahoo, and google does all their searches now, this is a good thing, as google is very easy and fast to submit to... and I feel has the best "text keyword" indexing around (it indexs text on your page, as well as meta tags, although I have only seen text keywords in searches, not meta keywords.)
