Hi All,
Has anyone downloaded IE5.5 yet? Have you had any problems with it? I downloaded it a couple days ago. The problem I am having is at certain sites, Yahoo & UPRR that have tables, the lines are malformed. Same thing at my site http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif. At first, I thought, bad download. Went to settings-control panel-add/remove and tried the IE5.5 fix. Same thing. I then deleted IE5.5 and redownloaded it. Same thing.

I've downloaded IE5.5 and gave it a try. Having problem with scrolling graphics. They jump when scrolling the page up and down. Looks like they are trying to adjust the page for the user and going too far?
Watch out for Netscape 6.0 .... I was told it has problem repainting your screen after jumping back from another links. ?? I'm afraid to try it. Hate to lose what I have.
Use Netscape 4.7

I presume these new browsers are still in the BETA version and you can expect to find parts that don't work properly yet. http://www.trainboard.com/confused.gif As far as I know, BETA versions are for folks to try then get back to the programmers with their findings so all bugs can be removed before the final version is released. http://www.trainboard.com/rolleyes.gif

I'm not having good luck with Netscape 6 - nor do I like the looks of it. I am using 4.7x for most applications at this point as I have a natural aversion to IE.

Until recently I was using Neoplanet, which is an excellent browser, which talks to you! It has hundreds of different 'skins'. But it kept freezing, and conflicting with some other applications, so it reluctantly had to go http://www.trainboard.com/frown.gif
I now use IE, as Netscape can be picky about some sites. IE and Outlook for my email work fine, which is what counts.

Neoplanet, I had the same hassles with that as Opera.
exactly as you state. Has all the things for the kiddies, but crashing and locking up can be annoying!

Hi All,
Well, well. I finally fingered out the problem with IE5.5 that I was having http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif. I also figured out my problem with Netscrape working properly on my site (that is until the next problem pops up http://www.trainboard.com/frown.gif). It is all in the code of the web page. With all the other IE's you could be a little sloppy with the code. NOT ON IE5.5. Even Yahoo has a few pages with flawed code. UPRR also. The way that I found the problem was by going to Netscrape 4.7x and check out a new page I am working on. I had been having a problem centering tables. On one of my pages it looked right http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif. Checked code and changed the other pages to match it. Bingo, all work on both browsers http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif.
As far as crashing browsers, IE5.01 & 5.5 are better than 5.0 and earlier versions, I think. The best thing that I ever did to improve browsing was go from 64K to 128K memory. Made a world of difference.
Anywo, I are happy now http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif.

gee... Microsoft not stick to a standard(which is why nothng works with 5.5!)?
Try to create a NEW standard.. ->>> NEVER! *ROTFLMAO*...
How come they always have to make things hard. I downloaded 5.5 at work and loaded it onto one of our test machines, and surfed the web...
well I think I found out of 30 mins surfing, 2 pages that work with 5.5! Missing images, tablres that didnt work, or werent centered. I didnt try any with pull down menus etc.Congrats to Uncle Bills team again!
I went to all major puter manufacturers websites, IBM, DELL, Gateways, Microshonk's site itself(which had pages that wouldnt come up!) Nutscrapes site wouldnt work either!
Stick with Nutscrape 4.7x.

I downloaded 5.5 about a week ago, and have surfed since then with no problems. All the pages come up fine. No complaints here.
