Hi All,
As my HTML knowledge is on par with a pre-schooler and my spelling isn't much better http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif, I need a little help. I need to move the left hand margin over about 10% on one of my pages. What do I use and where? BTW, it is for text.
TIA,

You need to tabulate the text. By that, I mean you need to use tr, td, and table width= commands. I had a look at your site and the first thing I noticed was the text sitting left. You have pre-empted me contacting you. http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif Which page/s are you concerned with? I can check it later and send it to you in an email.
Did you get the problem sorted with the Google link sitting to the left in Netscape? I posted the fix for you in your previous forum (http://www.trainboard.com/Forum63/HTML/000012.html) post.
Gary.

Hi Gary,
I played around with the Google for a while then said the heck with it. As far as the margin goes, I'll probably play with it later. I knew there had to be an easy was to do it. I just didn't think of the table bit. Thanks a lot. May learn how to do this stuff some day http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

Hey Gary,
I got my TR's and TD's figured out I think. The page I wanted to do it on is http://www.geocities.com/utahrails/utahrails/RRs/DRGW.html
Thanks for the tips.
PS: In fact, I am changing all the pages for the better looking left margin.

hey Jim,
I see you have that page under control! I did note you used the cellspacing command to give you the margins. On single column set-ups, that works fine, but you end up with double the spacing between the column when 2 or more are used.
Another path you can follow is specifying the width of the table as a percentage of the the page width and centering it on the page. This is particularly effective where there are 2 or more columns present.
Gary.

Count me as one of the HTML-challenged! http://www.trainboard.com/wink.gif
I've got a site on AOL Hometown, but I want
to add extra pages, animated graphics, links to my model RR club, kids, the Kiamichi Railroad, etc.
I'm ever-so-slowly learning this stuff, and the page you told us about is now posted in my Favorites file.
As I improve, so will my Website!
