As this preserved railway is only 20 miles from me, I thought it about time I showed some of the varied motive power which has run there!

The line can accommodate rolling stock to International (European) gauge, so we see some unusual stuff here.

Here is one of the first foreign locomotives on the railway, a French Nord compound 4-6-0

One of the first 'local' locomotives, is BR standard clas 5 4-6-0 73050 City of Peterborough. The name was applied after preservation. It is seen pasing under a road access bridge in Ferry Meadows Park, on it's way from Peterborough to Wansford.

Nice photos Alan; I have never been to the NVR, just driven past the "country" end on the A1.

Nice pictures Alan. How old are the pictures of SJ class S1 1928? She did not look that good when I last saw her some 10+ years ago.

Hello Kenny, Welcome to Trainboard smile.gif

Not sure how long ago that picture was taken, could be perhaps 15 years,(time passes so quickly!) The locomotive is not now on the railway, I am sure I heard that the owner died, and his mother wanted the engine to go into a museum, or something like that.

Pity, it was a good looking locomotive.

All good photos and glad to see them. Our Bean Counters were seemingly never interested in keeping our engines pretty over here. The onlt time ours were nice looking were when they were brand new. What a shame!
