A Virgin train derailed as it was entering Glasgow, but it was only travelling at 15 mph, so only 4 people received minor injuries.
The cause is not yet known, but vandalism has been ruled out.

Beautiful looking castings, Alan! Now I know what a Spine Car is. Are you injection molding, or hand pouring this metal? Looks like a craftsman's kit!. Congranulations & stuff! http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

Watash, thanks for the comments. The castings are centrifugally cast.
They are craftsman kits - for craftsmen http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif
But they are very easy to assemble http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

Apparently, the track had spread, causing the derailment. Some of the rail fastenings were loose. And it was only inspected by contractors a few days previously!
No wonder people are deserting rail for their cars in large numbers until things get back to some sort of normality, and safety is greatly improved.
