I have a question for the Susquehanna Ontario & Western 'N' layout owner: In the photo of your roundhouse, I can see the hinge pins on the doors of the roundhouse. How do you open the doors to run an engine inside? Are these doors powered remotely, or do you have to open them, and close them by hand? The layout looks marvelous!, Everything is very well scaled and finished out to perfection!. You are an artist in my book http://www.trainboard.com/biggrin.gif

Thanks for the superb report, JLS http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif
Looks like there were some excellent layouts, etc. at the show. Was it well attended?
By the look of the quality on display, it should have inspired a few more folks to go into US railroading http://www.trainboard.com/smile.gif

Watash,
The roundhouse is a Rapido one that I bought a long time ago (not sure if it's still manufactured). The roundhouse doors are normally sprung open (by means of a weak spring). When an engine goes fully inside a stall, it compresses the spring and closes the door by means of the wire you can see.
This is how it works.
Hope I answered your question

Alan,
I don't really know how many people attended this event. However, there was a crowd around each layout and taking pictures was not easy. Last Convention saw more than 3000 visitors, so we can assume that there was a little more attendance this time, since the attendance seems to increase each time.
